Club Programs in the Greater Atlanta Area
What is Club Volleyball?
Club volleyball is a competitive, organized form of volleyball played outside of school sports. It typically involves youth athletes (ages 10–18) joining local or regional volleyball clubs that train and compete in tournaments. These clubs are often affiliated with governing bodies like USA Volleyball (USAV), AAU Volleyball, or JVA (Junior Volleyball Association) in the United States.
Key Features of Club
- Tryouts
- Athletes must try out for a team, particularly for the National/Elite level teams. Coaches select players based on skill, potential, and team fit.
- Season
- The season generally runs from late fall/winter through spring or early summer.
- National-level teams may play through July for championships.
- Teams
- Teams are divided by age groups (e.g., 12U, 14U, 16U, 18U).
- Levels can range from local recreational to elite national travel teams.
- Tournaments
- Teams travel to play in weekend tournaments, which can be local or out of state.
- High-level clubs compete in qualifiers and national championships.
- Training
- Practices are held 2–4 times per week.
- Emphasis is on skill development, team play, and high-level competition.
Several of the volleyball organizations in the area offer training, whether it is camp, classes, or group and individual lessons. In addition, you’ll find club programs for players of all skill levels, whether it is local, regional, or national. We encourage players to explore different clubs in the area and provide this resource page to begin locating clubs in the area. The game of volleyball is growing at an exceptional pace over the years and new clubs are forming every year. We encourage our players/families to ask teammates and parents about their experiences with different clubs in the area.
